Living TV is making it’s first foray into UK drama as it sets its sites on taking ITV2′s place in the market – and what better way to do this than to get a big name like Will Young on board.

Will is going to play Ryan, a resident of a spooky tower block, which of course used to be a Victorian mental hospital. “Bedlam” sounds like it has a well travelled plot then – but Will doesn’t think differently: ”The scripts are original and fantastic, as are the other actors involved. I can’t wait to get my teeth into the role.”

Will has been cleverly been diversifying over the past few years, taking parts on TV in Mrs Henderson Presents, Miss Marple and a cameo in Skins and on stage staring in Noel Coward’s The Vortex, giving him an impressive CV allowing him to land this part.

Given it’s got a £3 million budget, and the production company behind it produced the excellent Casanova and Queer as Folk, it could be a good move for him.

Strange though that the Director of Living TV recently said the channel would be moving away from its current schedule focussed on “pink and paranormal” – but isn’t this both?
