HUDSON MOHAWKE – JOY FANTASTIC: With overtones of Andre 3000′s The Love Below, this camp disco tune is the perfect song for getting ready for a big night.
TIGERS THAT TALKED – ARTIFICIAL CLOUDS: The meaningful vocals of Jamie Williams indicate great promise for the band and we’re sure they’ll stand out this year in the burgeoning folk-pop scene.
THE ANTLERS – KETTERING: OK so this has been around for a while. It’s the perfect track for a lazy bank holiday though. Despite lyrically being a story of terminal illness, the rhythm is hypnotic and strangely uplifting – making it the musical equivalent of an Alan Bennett monologue.
Frankie And The Heartstrings – Tender: You can’t mistake the distinctive Sunderland vocals on this catchy tune.
Golden Hours – Wash the Night Eyes: Reading five-piece The Wookies have graduated into Golden Hours and are showing they are ready to make it big – though criminally they don’t seem to be represented at the ‘mo. Their songs are deceptively intricate, tending to shift several gears effortlessly and skip back and forth between musical genres before you have noticed; to boot they have some powerful lyrics that stand on their own, defiantly refusing to be crowded out.
