England manager Fabio Capello has decided that there will be no official World Cup track released by the England squad.
Capello has long been trying to rid the setup of the squad of all outside distractions so the team can just focus on their football. This latest cutback will mean there will be no messing around in studios for the players in the build up to next year’s finals in South Africa.
Take That were rumoured to have been in the running to release the official track, following in the footsteps of Embrace with their dull World At Your Feet in 2006.
The News of the World reports that an England ‘insider’ said: “There were a lot of big names wanting to record a song. Very big names.
“But Fabio does not want anything that could possibly detract from the preparations – even in the slightest of ways.”

Fabio is to be applauded, he isn’t letting in any distractions. I have written a song, but it is NOT for footballers to sing, nor for famous groups, nor should it be liked because of a video. It is for supporters, it is their job to encourage our players. My song and chant is simple, catchy and memorable, the words take us through the game and through to victory. If this song caught on, I’d be happy to give the profits to good causes, it’s not about the money, it’s about uniting us all. You can read the words on my web site http://www.ournagshead.co.uk or listen on these links.

If the FA like my song in principle, then genuine supporters should record it, proceeds could then go to benefit the future of English football. Can anyone ask the FA to at least listen?
