Over the last week there’s been a glut of leaks of the new MGMT album “Congratulations”.
Luckily, this has led MGMT to leak it themselves. Speaking on their official website they said:
Hey everybody, the album leaked, and we wanted you to be able to hear it from us. We wanted to offer it as a free download but that didn’t make sense to anyone but us.
So here it is, their difficult second album. We haven’t had a chance to digest it fully yet (Siberian Breaks is over 12 minutes long!) but initial thoughts are that after a few listens fans will see it as better than their first offering – but it’s not quite as immediate.
Let us know whether you’re berating or giving it “congratulations”. Geddit?

Listened to it yesterday. Gets a big thumbs up from me. Very bold and interesting change of tact. Last album was popular and had some classic pop hits on there but got a bit boring after a few listens. This has so much going on it could be accused of trying to cram too much in but it’s a far more adventurous album and will offer new discoveries for listen after listen.
