Is This It as best album of an entire decade? This could almost be considered an April Fools Joke.

At the risk of looking like pretentious twat, I'd be more inclined to agree with Pitchfork's summary of the albums of the 2000's http://pitchfork.com/p2k/

Is This It is good but by no means would it get my number 1. It wouldn't get in my top 10, probably not even 20. I'm going to go to bed before I get into thinking about my favourite albums of the decade though or I'll be here working it out until 2019.

In response to Hope Of The States...the lead guitarist committed suicide 2 weeks before the release of the debut album. The band never recovered and yes the follow-up is poor.

Looking at the NME list, it smacks of pomp and arrogance yet again. All British music and no international praise. As expected from a music paper that no serious music fan buys any more.

From all accounts, probably better than Arcade Fire live...

Eerily they're from very near to where I am from. Support your local band and all that. Oops.

Yeah they were like a British Arcade Fire, before the Canadians though. They went kaput after a poor second album, but it was the death of one of the band that really fucked them, they were never the same after that.

Hope of the States? They do that 'red, white, and blue' or something? Violin people? Heh. Whatever happened to them?

Shame Funeral preceded the dross...

Yeah I would add The Lost Riots by Hope Of The States. A great band that never happened. Such a tragedy. Also the I Was A Cub Scout album. More lightening in a bottle...

For me, Funeral would be up there with Is This It and Plans by Death Cab.

Holes In The Wall by the Electric Soft Parade, 100 Broken Windows and The Remote Part by Idlewild, The Lost Riots by Hope of the States, O by Damien Rice, Glasvegas by Glasvegas, In Rainbows by Radiohead, Hold On Now, Youngster by Los Campesinos!, Breaking Up by the Research....would all be close.
