I don&#039;t agree with your pessimistic outlook but I agree it is a bleak future.

A number of (admittedly) well-established musicians with strong followings have tried to break away from the corporate model. Kristen Hersh and Thea Gilmore for instance. And Idlewild fan&#039;s funded their new album.

I don&#039;t understand why Nerina had to re-mortgage her house when making a record is quite cheap these days compared with twenty years ago. Depends if she used the money for publishing and marketing. That seems to be a money-sink.

As for advertisement isn music? I wouldn&#039;t be surprised if albums start name dropping and product placing on a regular basis. The next Bowling For Soup album is probably called I Love Snapple!</description>
