Florence + The Machine is cleverly capitalising on her recent win at the Brits with her new release Dog Days are Over. The song is fairly familiar having already been released in 2008 – though only reaching a paltry number 89 in the singles chart – and being the backing music for Channel 4s recent Slumdog Millionaire push. The song itself hasn’t changed, she’s always been able to belt them out, but it seems the old video had to go.
Asked why she is remaking the video she told The Sun, “The original was so cheap [...] It was a video camera in a forest, with my dad and Marks & Spencer sandwiches.” This is true – it was a kind of pseudo Wicker Man tale whose lack of plot direction came clear late on in the video – but it was quite endearing.
The new video is the same sort of thing, designed more to assert her as a Kate Bush hippie type than actually mean anything, but with much more cash thrown at it.

You’ve picked one of the nice pretty pictures of Florence there. Usually her make up is so severe, and her general look so harsh that you could mistake her for a very middle aged woman.
She looked about 57 at the Brits.
