Bob Dylan will trial a new method of ticket selling for a gig in San Francisco which could provide a major breakthrough in the war against touts and processing fees. The singer is scrapping advance tickets for his 25th August gig and access will be granted exclusively by purchasing a $39 tickets in cash on the door. Attendees will also be limited to purchasing one ticket per person, with sales commencing as early as 12pm. Gates will open at 5pm and the show will start at 8pm.
As well as avoiding exorbitant ticket handling and processing fees, the move will also stamp out ticket touts who usually reserve the right to sell tickets illegally at hugely inflated prices.
A representative of promotion company Goldenvoice said: “Given the state of touring and how fees have escalated, it was a real breath of fresh air to do something very consumer-oriented by eliminating all ticketing charges.”
“It’s almost a throwback to another time.”
